'Charlie Haden-Jim Hall' Release via Newly Revived Impulse! Records and Universal Music Group September 30

September 30 will see an astounding release from the recently revived impulse! record label (a branch of Universal Music France and distributed by Blue Not Records in the U.S.). Charlie Haden-Jim Hall, a stunning duo performance from the illustrious pair at the 1990 Montreal International Jazz Festival.

Though recently departed, the pair come as masters of the genre, with Jim Hall who defined mainstream jazz guitar and Charlie Haden who took bass to the next level.

News of the release has caused quite a stir among peers.

Pat Metheny remarked, "What a treat it is to hear two of my heroes and my two favorite personal duet partners playing in a setting like this! This is a recording for the ages."

The duo has had some other serious pairings over the years: Haden with Metheny, Keith Jarrett, Ornette Coleman, Alice Coltrane, Kenny Barron and more; Hall with Metheny, Bill Evans, Ron Carter, and George Shearing among others.
