Pina Bausch’s dance company, Tanztheater Wuppertal, will bring her iconic dating ritual piece from 1978, "Kontakthof," to the Brooklyn Academy of Music through this Sunday.

Bausch, who died in 2009, based her seminal dance theater work "Kontakthof," on the awkward high-school dance days filled with adolescent passion and angst. The seductive tête-à-tête translates to “courtyard of contact,” a perfectly phrased description of teen years.

Two dozen men and women in formal dress will dance out to music by Charlie Chaplin, Anton Karas, Nino Rota, Jean Sibelius and many more classic 1930s tunes. They will also vie for attention by way of teasing, flirting and simply tantalizing each other dance-hall style. The piece is directed and choreographed by Pina Bausch with set and costume design by Rolf Borzik and collaboration by Borzik, Marion Cito and Hans Pop.

Under the artistic direction of Lutz Förster, Tanztheater Wuppertal, returns to BAM’s Brooklyn Howard Gilman Opera House in celebration of the 30th anniversary of their New York debut.

The show runs tonight, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. Tickets start at $25 and you can purchase them here.

Get ready for a plethora of gyrating pelvisis and swaying hips.
