With security in Symphony Hall increased in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombing, the Boston Symphony Orchestra paid tribute to the victims of the attacks and their families during its concert Thursday night.

Wearing her marathon jacket, and a running watch, over her black evening gown, viola player Cathy Basrak has run in the Boston Marathon before.

Five other BSO members have run in Boston Marathons in previous years:

Rachel Fagerburg, Jonathan Menkis, Cathy Basrak, Jennie Shames, Steven Ansell and James Cooke.

The orchestra invited people injured in the bombings and family members of the three people killed to attend its concert.

Donations were collected for The One Fund Boston, set up by Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Tom Menino to help the people most affected by the tragic events that occurred on Monday, April 15, 2013.

The Boston Symphony Orchestra canceled its concert on Monday night, in light of the bombings earlier that day.

Below, watch the final bars in Benjamin Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra, the closing work on the BSO's program from Thursday.
