While Scandal fixer Olivia Pope is more than used to unwanted attention and drama, the actress who play her is known for going out of her way to only enter the limelight on her own terms. According to the latest gossip news updates, however, Kerry Washington's private love life is everybody's business now that the Django Unchained actress and her professional basketball playing husband, Nnamdi Asomugha, are said to be having problems in the marriage. Word has it the Kerry's bestie, Gwyneth Paltrow, is far more dedicated to saving Washington's relationship than she was he own and has convinced her friends to enter couple's therapy in order to get their mojo moving again.

While it seems the ultimate dream realized to parlay your NFL success into a marriage with one of the sexiest actresses on the planet, apparently, it's pretty important to make sure said thespian isn't cast in a Shonda Rhimes juggernaut.

A source close to Kerry Washington and Nnamdi Asomugha told Radar Online that Asomugha might have been able to handle it if Kerry had a smaller role or was helming a TV Land series like Younger, but Washington having a celebrity profile so much higher than his own as Scandal's Olivia Pope, is reportedly killing the pro-footballer:

"The root of the problem is that Nnamdi feels threatened by Kerry's success.

"Nnamdi's bitter because he feels he should be the breadwinner."

Although things may have taken a bit of a turn for the worse, Kerry Washington's marriage is said to be far from unsalvageable if only given a little bit of love and attention.

One celebrity informant told OK! Magazine, that Washington had an ally in Hollywood that was determined not to let her friend get a divorce without at least putting up a fight like a true Gladitor should.

According to the spy, Gwyneth Paltrow couldn't work out her issues with ex-husband Chris Martin but has hope that things will be different for Kerry and Nnamdi (via InTouch Weekly):

"She's urged Kerry and Nnamdi to tackle their issues head on.

"She's hoping couples counseling can help them overcome their problems before things reach the point of no return."

If Kerry Washington and Nnamdi Asomugha are really trying to stave off divorce, they certainly shouldn't do anything Gwyneth Paltrow suggest as a matter of policy.
