Supergirl is here and the world is a better place. The pilot for the new CBS DC Comics series from Arrow and The Flash’s super team of Greg Berlanti, & Andrew Kreisberg, with Ali Adler (Glee, Family Guy, Chuck), has leaked online ahead of its November 2015 release.

Make no mistake, the ceiling doesn’t have to be glass for Melissa Benoist (Kara Zor-El / Kara Danvers / Supergirl) to break through it. Supergirl holds her own in a medium digitally dominated by male characters, putting many of them to shame. Benoist, captures the wholesomeness traditionally associated with the Super Family, avoiding DC’s darker direction of recent years, all the while maintaining her strength as a capable woman.

The online leak may actually be a marketing ploy. Where online views could in theory hurt pilot views, it also creates buzz about the show. After a six minute teaser, fans now get the chance to see just how well the show works without the wait. The same thing happened with Berlanti and Kreisberg’s The Flash, which went on to be one of the best received CW shows of the 2014-2015 season.

Like The Flash, the show is has a large supporting cast surrounding the central hero. The show features its very own Star Labsesque HQ in the form of the DEO (Department of Extra-Normal Operations) which is lead by her very own Harrison Wells/Reverse Flash (Tom Cavanagh) character Hank Henshaw (David Harewood), who in the comics goes on to become the villainous Cyborg Superman.

However, the show is not a copy of The Flash, and will certainly stand (or fly) on its own.

Like The Flash, the series also flips race around, casting Black actors David Harewood and Mehcad Brooks as Hank Henshaw and James Olsen, respectively.

If you are one of the thousands who watched the leaked online pilot, do yourselves and the series a favor and tune into the pilot episode this November when it airs on CBS.
