It looks like Patrick Dempsey isn't having any trouble bouncing back from being unceremoniously fired from Shonda Rhimes' Grey's Anatomy last year. According to the latest gossip news updates, things are really starting to heat up between McDreamy and Renée Zellweger on the set of the new Bridget Jones movie, despite her already dating boyfriend Doyle Bramhall II. Meanwhile, the ABC medical drama appears to be struggling to add excitement to the series, and has even gone so far as to hire Hollywood juggernaut Denzel Washington to come in a direct an episode in Season 12.
It looks like it has taken Patrick Dempsey no time at all to rebound from getting sacked by Shonda Rhimes last year.
Now that the former Grey's Anatomy lead is working on the latest Bridget Jones sequel it said he may soon have a new girlfriend to go along with his big new role.
One source in the latest October 126, issue of Star magazine claims that although she is hardly single, Renee Zellweger just can't help but fall victim to Dempsey's charm whenever they are together on set:
"Renee's very much in love with Doyle, but when she's around Patrick she acts like a teenager.
"They've only just begun filming, but it's pretty obvious she's sweet on him. And it is not entirely one sided, either.
"Patrick and Renee already have all sorts of inside jokes, and they constantly go out of their way to arrange private meetings to review the script and get to know each other better."
While both Dempsey's professional and personal lives appear to be back on track, it's hard to say if Shonda Rhimes can truly say the same thing about Grey's Anatomy in Season 12.
Perhaps, suggesting that ABC showrunner is desperate to get fans excited about the show once again, Denzel Washington will be coming aboard to direct at least one episode of Grey's this year.
According to the report by The Hollywood Reporter, this will also mark the first time that Washington has ever come aboard as a celebrity guest director:
"Washington will helm episode nine of the Shonda Rhimes-Betsy Beers medical drama's 12th season, which will be penned by head writer Stacy McKee and is poised to start production this month.
"Grey's marks Washington's TV directing debut. The prolific actor has previously directed two features: 2002's Antwone Fisher and 2007's The Great Debaters."
What do you think about Shonda Rhimes decision to kill off Patrick Shepherd so suddenly last season?
Is the show better now that Derek Shepherd isn't vying for Meredith's attention for the first time in 11-years?
Or, did Shonda ruin the TV show forever when she murdered the most compelling love affair on television?
