'Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier' is on it's way and Classicalite is catching you up on all the latest developments. The forthcoming sequeal to the 2011 hit film is one of the most anticipated films of 2014. Outside of the titular villain, The Winter Soldier, the film might feature a few surprise big bads. Warning Spoilers Follow

Robert Redford is one of the latest jewels in Marvels crown of highly acclaimed supporting actors. Redford recently spoke with the Associated Press about his choice to take on the role of S.H.I.E.L.D. head Alexander Pierce in the new film.

"Trying these new things is a way to keep moving forward and you keep discovering things about yourself. You never too old for that I don't think. It's so different filmmaking, so completely high-tech and so completely different, I thought it would be interesting and fun to understand what that is, to be in it. Even though it is a smaller part; significant, but a smaller part [in the movie]. It is different [and] it was slightly weird."

He also reiterated this statement when he told The Straits Times:

“I think a career requires a certain amount of reinvention. If you get caught in one track I think that can be dangerous. Success has a dark side to it. you want to be careful if you’ve had success at something, that you not try and follow it by just duplicating it. That’s why I’m doing this Captain America thing.”

Redford managed to potentially spoil a plot twist. when he added:

“I like the idea of playing a villain…I did that just because it’s a different thing for me to do.”

As anyone who has seen the Avengers knows, it was the S.H.I.E.L.D. leadership that ordered the atomic bomb to be dropped on New York. In the comics, it is was once revealed that S.H.I.E.L.D. was actually under HYDRA control for a long time. HYDRA of course being the evil Nazi organization form the first film.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier comes out on April 4, 2014.
