In celebration of Hugh Masekela's 75th birthday, the South African icon will make an appearance at Jazz at Lincoln Center joined by the famous Americana pioneer Paul Simon (April 4 only).

The legendary trumpeter, flugelhornist, composer and lyricist--joined, too, by other shining associates from the various arcs of his career--will explore both his fascination with American jazz, as well as his deep roots in Zulu folkloric strains.

As is Masekela's custom, personal considerations will be in accordance with his ongoing quest to document, as he says, "the amazing diversity and unfathomable excellence of the African diaspora's cultural heritage."

So, if you Classicalites have room in your busy Spring 2014 season, make haste to JALC's Rose Theater on April 4 and 5 at 8 p.m.

Mr. Simon, sadly, only has time for the Friday, April 4 gig.
