The glass will be shattered regarding who's the better minimalist--Steve Reich vs. Phil Glass--in Brooklyn, New York during a three-day performance at BAM's upcoming Next Wave Festival 2014.

Alcohol will be served, too.

Partnering with Nonesuch Records, this year's Next Wave Fest finds Glass and Reich performing on the same bill, with their respective ensembles (featuring more totalist names like Nico Muhly, Timo Andres, Synergy Vocals, etc.), for the first time in over 30 years.

Other performers on Nonesuch's watch touching down in Fort Greene: Youssou N'Dour, Caetano Veloso, Laurie Anderson, Kronos Quartet and Brad Mehldau.

Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant will close out the fest with his band--the aptly titled Sensational Space Shifters.

Other highlights for you Classicalites: Rhiannon Giddens of Carolina Chocolate Drops will unveil a new work while T-Bone Burnett, Devendra Banhart, Stephin Merritt and Iron and Wine headline a killer triple card.

Head to BAM's site for more info.

As for who's really better--Reich vs. Glass--have a listen to the former's best and one of the latter's worst.
