NPR Music commissioned composer, dholist and all-around percussive force Sunny Jain to write 100+BPM, a brilliant new piece inspired by the boundless energy of what happens when drums meet brass.

Jain, founder of Brooklyn's own Red Baraat outfit, said to the 300-something musicians gathered on the steps of the Brooklyn Public Library that 100+BPM references both his work's tempo and the spirit of, quote, "Brooklyn public music."

Again, while we wait for NPR Music to finish editing their newest field recording from Make Music New York, we thought we'd share some more footage of the rehearsal process--with a score, of course.

And of course, you'll definitely want to peruse all of the great media on NPR Music's Flickr, Twitter and Tumblr pages (hashtag #npr100BPM).
