PSY Apologizes For Anti American Lyrics
PSY mega YouTube sensation has been caught in some controversy as the South Korean was reportedly slinging anti American lyrics on a track he recorded with a heavy metal band N.E.X.T according to the Huffington Post.
The song was entitled "Dear American," and lines that PSY spitting in a 2002 concert in South Korea said "Kill those f$@king Yankees who been torturing Iraqi captives," this according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The media site said the lyrics went as followed:
"Kill those f---ing Yankees who have been torturing Iraqi captives/Kill those f---ing Yankees who ordered them to torture/Kill their daughters, mothers, daughters-in-law and fathers/Kill them all slowly and painfully."
The 2004 concert according to Hollywood Reporter was in protest against the killing of Kim Sun-il, a South Korean missionary and translator how was beheaded in Iraq by militants. Sun-il was murdered after the South Korean government proceeded with plans to send 3,000 additional troops to the country, CNN reports.
Since the news broke PSY has since apologize for the lyrics and in a statement to MTV News today said.
"The song in question-from eight years ago-was part of a deeply emotional reaction to the war in Iraq...I will forever be sorry for any pain I have caused anyone by those words." The singer went on to say, "I hope American soldiers and all Americans can accept my apology."
PSY's Gangnam Style is one of the most viewed YouTube videos ever.
