NBC ‘Blacklist’ Season 2 Spoilers: ‘Avenger 2: Age of Ultron’ Villain James Spader Answers Red and Liz Father Questions At Comic-Con 2014: ‘Weeds’ Mary-Louise Parker Cast [UPDATE]

SPOILER ALERT: San Diego Comic-Con 2014 is underway and what would convention be without the breakaway hit show of last season, The Blacklist. James Spader has been pulling double duty as this weekend promotion both Marvel’s Avengers 2: Age of Ultron, in which he plays the titular villain, as well The Blacklist. During The Blacklist panel, Spader opened up about the father/daughter esque relationship between, his character, Red Reddington and Elizabeth Keene. In other news, Weeds star Mary-Louise Parker is joining the cast for Season 3.

James Spader address fans questions about Red’s relationship with Liz, at Comic-Con 2014, telling the crowd (Via Entertainment Weekly):

“Whatever that relationship is between Elizabeth Keene and Raymond Reddington is not the most significant question to be answered..What the show is about–and it creeps up on you–is: What is the nature of their relationship now?”

On of the show’s producers Jon Bokenkamp also chimed in on the subject, adding:

“The question of who Raymond Reddington is to Elizabeth Keene is central to the conceit of the show. It’s a question we will continue to answer and continue to explore. It’s certainly not anything we want to be answering.”

One mystery we will get to explore more is the identity of the Berlin (Peter Stormare), as Bokenkamp adds:

“Berlin is clearly still out there. We’ll see how our team is recovering, and grappling with this large question of who this man is, and what his relationship is to Red.”

Another big announcement was the addition of Weeds star Mary-Louise Parker as someone who have close ties with Red.

What do you think of how the new season is shaping up? Do you think Red is really Liz’s father? Do you think that Mary Louise Parker could be Liz’s mom? Let us know your theories in the comments section at the bottom of the page.
