You wouldn't think that one could be injured by a CGI shark, but 90210 veteran Ian Zeiring somehow managed it on the Sharknado 2 set. American Pie hot-mess Tara Ried recently recounted an incident for the film wherein Ian chainsawed his own leg alla Texas Chainsaw Massacre Leatherface style. The stars swear that the NYC sequel will be every bit as crazy as the original.
If you thought Sharknado 2 was just going to be another reason to see Tara Reid take her top off, you were wrong--she gets her hand taken off as well.
During an interview with Us Weekly to promote the movie the film's lead star claimed to have pulled out all the stops for ridiculously awful sequel:
"Ian: You won't see me chai-sawing my way out of the belly of a shark, but it's creative with other WTF moments.
"Tara: You grab my severed hand out of a shark's mouth."
Speaking of severed limbs--Tara also told the publication for their August 4, issue that Ziering damn near cut his own leg off for the picture:
"Ian did all his own stunts and cut his leg with a chain saw.
"He was bleeding on top on the Empire State Building and he just kept on acting.
"I would have been like, 'I'm dying!'"
Craziest off all the revelations was the admission by Ian that if not for his wife he would have never made the first Sharknado:
"It had all the signs of a clunker...But with two kids, my wife said, 'You need to work.' Now she says, 'I told you so.'"
Ian claims that once he realized that he was a part of a money making franchise he tried to help his friends out, but that didn't exactly work out:
"Before they locked in Kari Wuhrer as my sister, I called up [90210 costar] Jennie Garth, but she was starting a book tour."
Well...that was a wise choice.
