Married Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi Divorce Split: Drunk Wife Lands ‘Scandal’ Role Despite Tension? [VIDEO RUMORS UPDATE]

It has been no secret that there are rumors suggesting that Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi's marriage has been on the rocks for well over a year now. The tabloid and internet gossip news updates have accused Ellen of everything from emotional abuse to controlling Portia's comings and goings. Now it's being suggested that Ellen has been the real cause of the former Ally McBeal star working so little since her Arrested development days. Despite the fact the Ellen broke the news on Twitter that de Rossi landed a role on Shonda Rimes ABC political drama Scandal, some folks are claiming that DeGeneres played on Portia's tensions and insecurities for years in order to convince her she wasn't fit to act any longer.

By all accounts, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have been doing their best to make a real go of it since Portia's reported release from rehab at the end of May.

Near the end of last month, Ellen even used her star power to promote her wife's career on Twitter:

"So annoying when people brag on twitter & that's why I'm not tweeting that Portia just signed on to do a top secret arc on Scandal. Oops."

That is a hell of a change of pace for the pair, according to an inside source who spoke with In Touch for their August 11 print edition.

A source supposedly close to the stars claims that DeGeneres used to do everything she could think of to sabotage Portia's acting gigs:

"Ellen has made her turn down roles she was offered.

"Ellen would act as if Portia wasn't strong enough to take them, but it had nothing to do with her helping her--it's about control.

"Working would be the best thing for Portia."

The insider went to explain to the publication that de Rossi seems happier than she has in years:

"All Portia can talk about is beginning a new chapter in their lives."

Yeah...but perhaps it's time for an entirely new book all together.
