LIVESTREAM: Dance Motion USA, David Dorfman Company, Turkey's Kprhan Basaran at Brooklyn Academy of Music, August 16

Native New York David Dorfman Dance Company along with Turkish Kprhan Basaran Company will world premiere their collaboration at Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) as part of DanceMotion USA on August 16, compete with a live stream.

Joining the performance are two Armenian guest dancers--Karen Khachatryan and Davit Grigorya--invited by the DanceMotion USA program as part of their ongoing efforts to connect artists domestic and abroad. David Dorfman Dance are back home from a four-week-long educational exchange and performance tour of Turkey, Armenia, and Tajikistan, again as part of DanceMotion USA.

DanceMotion USA is a people-to-people international exchange effort of the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs produced by BAM. The program specializes in showcasing the finest contemporary American dance abroad while providing an educational cultural exchange.

As part of the program, US embassies partner with leading cultural, social service, and community-based organizations and educational institutions abroad to make the programs integration successful. The dancers participate in a number of activities including: workshops, outreach events for underserved populations, masterclasses for local dancers, collaborative creative sessions between the American and a local company, and public performances with artist talks.

The program participants also partake in roundtable discussions and technical theater training workshops in a further effort to communicate and receive culture info and build an international network of potential collaborators.
