Sam Smith, First Openly Gay Singer to Perform Newest 'James Bond' Theme, Is In After Adele Backs Out of Role

Sam Smith, an openly gay singer that has broke into the mainstream with a recent hit "Stay With Me," will be the first proud homosexual to sing the title track in the new James Bond movie.

The movie, which is still untitled, will be released November 2015.

The news struck after rumors that Adele rejected the initial offer to record the title track--her first being the Oscar-winning Skyfall theme. If she were to have accepted, it would have made her the second singer to perform the theme song, the other being Shirley Bassey.

We all support his decision to sing the track and acknowledge the milestone (because well all should be accepting, of course) though it shouldn't have been an "issue" in the first place (again, obviously).

Personally, I found the news of a new Bond film more noteworthy as it was undetermined when another one would be coming

The new Bond film will feature, again, director Sam Mendes and bad-boy Daniel Craig, along with Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris and Rory Kinnear to close out the cast.

In the meantime, with almost 100 million hits, here's Adele's "Skyfall."
