Gary Carr from 'Downton Abby' to Replace Anthony Mackie in Long Overdue Buddy Bolden Film

Downton Abby star Gary Carr has replaced Anthony Mackie as Buddy Bolden in the long-awaited biopic about the outlaw jazz legend.

Dan Pritzker, director and writer of Bolden, has finally set plans in stone for a three-month shooting after a seven-year halt on production. Pritzer will have to pull out sets and props that have been in storage in Wilmington, N.C. for the past five years to finish the doc.

Pritzer has also gathered up everyone who was involved in shooting back in 2007 (and extensive re-shoots in 2009), except Anthony Mackie, who has conflicting schedule commitments.

The film will be one of the first documentable works on Bolden. The proto-jazzer left behind very few recordings of his work, with rumors long told that the only one was lost in a farmhouse fire.

Bolden became Louis Armstrong's student in the 1930s, mastering both the cornet and trumpet. Bolden also spent the majority of his life at Louisania State Insane Assylum, until he died in 1931.

Bolden, the movie, is set to be released in November of 2015.
