Producers Seek New Fab Four for Hit Beatles Show 'Let It Be' on the West End

The producers of London's hit Beatles show Let It Be are holding open auditions on September 3 to find new Johns, Pauls, Georges and Ringos to continue on the West End and on tour.

Meant to give audiences the closest possible approximation of a live Beatles concert, Let It Be began its London life at the Prince of Wales Theatre in 2012, then transferred to the Savoy until February 2014. It's set to begin previews September 7, 2014 at the West End's Garrick Theatre, with opening night set for October 7, 2014. The production marks the first time a West End show has acquired rights to The Beatles' back catalogue.

The show follows the band's rise from Liverpool's Cavern Club through the craziness of Beatlemania and into their retreat to the studio for their final albums. Songs include "I Wanna Hold Your Hand," "Day Tripper," "Twist and Shout," "With a Little Help From My Friends," "A Hard Day's Night," "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," "When I'm 64," "Strawberry Fields Forever" and, naturally, "Let It Be."

Beatle hopefuls must prepare three songs demonstrating their ability to play guitar, drums, or the trio of bass, piano and acoustic guitar (I guess that's if you want to be Paul) and sing Beatles songs convincingly in the original key, proving you can "replicate the iconic sound, style and vocal tone of The Beatles themselves."

All in five minutes.

No need to make an appointment; just show up at the Garrick Theatre on Wednesday, September 3, 2014. Morning registration is from 9:30-10 AM, afternoon registration from 1:30-2. Be prepared to wait. (And wait, and wait, and wait some more, probably.) Instruments will be provided, but "Beatles' attire [is] welcome!"
