Though it flies in the face of what we've come to expect from the tabloid gossip news world, their reports that for months that America's Got Talent host, Nick Cannon, and his 'Butterfly' wife Mariah Carey have been on the brink of divorce due to Cannon's cheating seem to be at least somewhat true. The Wild N' Out husband recently confirmed that he and his much older old lady split up months ago and are currently living separate lives in different houses. Cannon says that his central concern at this point is their twins, Monroe and Moroccan--not his marriage.
There have been some pretty wild reports about Nick Cannon's marriage to Mariah Carey spectacularly unraveling over the past several months that have included everything from accusations of cheating to Cannon being forced to keep all his belonging in the unused corners of their home.
Just the other week for their August 11, issue, In Touch Weekly published a source who claimed that the married couple had become virtual strangers living in different cities as well as different houses:
"Mariah needs and wants a man to be at her back and call, but Nick is bored with having to cater to her all the time.
"Nick goes out of town on his own and behaves like a single guy--buying drinks for pretty women and ogling the hottest chicks.
"They've been fighting for months...They're in a very bad place."
Although, people so often discount everything they read in the gossip tabloids as utter speculation, it appears that doesn't seem to be the case for this particular tale.
During a recent chat with Chris Spencer over at Yahoo's The Insider, Cannon acknowledged that there was little use keeping up the lies about their domestic bliss any longer (via Huffington Post):
"There is trouble in paradise.
"We have been living in separate houses for a few months... My main focus is my kids"
According to the insider who spoke to ITW, Nick and Mariah are faring quite a bit worse than Cannon lets on, but they are trying to turn their attention to the kids--just like Nick said:
"It's pretty much over...They're both pouring themselves into their careers, and neither seems interested in fighting to save their marriage.
"Mariah and Nick are trying to figure out a way to move forward that protects their kids."
While it must, of course, be the most amazing feeling in the world to actually marry and have babies with the celebrity crush you had pinned up on you wall in junior high, it is still seemingly no match for the seven year itch.
