Alarm Will Sound Performing on Brooklyn Academy of Music's 2014 Next Wave Festival Nonesuch Records Nights in September

As part of the 2014 Next Wave Festival (and the program by Nonesuch Records) at BAM, Alarm Will Sound is set for two nights of performances coming this September. Conducted by Alan Pierson, the Alarm Will Sound performances are slated for September 12 with music by John Adams and September 13 with music by Tyondai Braxton, Steve Reich, and Donnacha Dennehy.

The first evening not only features John Adams but also included in the evenings tastings are Son of Chamber Symphony, Chamber Symphony, Scratchband, and an arrangement of Hoodoo Zephyr.

The second evening then continues the sonic treat with Tyondai Braxton’s Fly By Wire and Donnacha Dennehy’s Grá agus Bás. Saturday will also delight fans with Steve Reich’s Radio Rewrite.

Based on the music of Radiohead, Radio Rwerite came to life after Steve Reich and Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood met and hung at a Polish musical festival in 2011. Greenwood performed his vision of Reich's 1987 composition "Electric Counterpoint" and thus the mutual inspiration was hatched.

Alarm Will Sound’s 20 band members are dedicated to performing modern music with a practiced classical sound. ASCAP recognized Alarm Will Sound for their contributions to new music in 2006 with a Concert Music Award for "the virtuosity, passion and commitment with which they perform and champion the repertory for the 21st century."

To further study their talent and ingenuity, watch below as they perform "Four" by Aphex Twin as arranged by Jessica Johnson and Payton MacDonald at Le Poisson Rouge in 2009.
