Rumors are once again flying about who Miley Cyrus may be dating in 2014. After taking Jesse Helt, a former homeless man, as her date to the VMAs, many thought that she was hooking up with the young man. These latest claims come after Miley's high-profile breakup with Liam Hemsworth, which she recently discussed in an interview.
Miley Cyrus knows how to generate press, and that's exactly what she did at this year's VMAs. And most shocking of all, she didn't do so by twerking.
Instead, her date, 22-year-old model Jesse Helt, accepted an award on her behalf. Mr. Helt used the spotlight to raise awareness about the amount of homeless youth in America, claiming that he was homeless as well.
Though many initially thought that Jesse was Miley's new boy toy, the two actually met through My Friend's Place, a Hollywood homeless center which Miley supports.
While Mr. Helt raised a great deal of awareness for the non-profit, things quickly took a sour turn. Shortly after his speech, it was revealed that Jesse had a warrant for his arrest.
According to People, Mr. Helt violated probation:
"Court records show that Helt pleaded guilty to misdemeanor criminal mischief and criminal trespass several years ago after breaking into the apartment of a man he believed to be selling bad marijuana. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail and probation. The arrest warrant was issued in November 2011 after he violated probation."
Helt has since turned himself into the police.
Miley, while pledging to support Helt during his legal woes, is back conducting interviews. The international twerker recently appeared on Sunday Night, where she actually opened up about Liam Hemsworth.
As Mail Online reports, Miley claims that she and Liam still love one another:
The 21-year-old American opened up about her emotions for the Hunger Games actor during an interview on Australia's Sunday Night television show...'I love Liam, Liam loves me', the Bangerz singer told Channel Seven reporter Chris Bath."
