Opera Philadelphia To Present Contemporary Stagecraft In New Production 'Silent Night'

Opera Philadelphia will present new production titled Silent Night.

New opera Silent Night was composed by Kevin Puts, and librettist Mark Campbell. Opera set in the World War I western front tells the story about miraculous moment of peace as Scottish, German and French officers defy their superiors and negotiate Christmas Eve truce.

Stellar cast including Kelly Kaduce as Anna Sorenson, William Burden as Nikolaus Springk, Liam Bonner as Lt. Audebert, Craig Irvin as Lt. Horstmayer, Gabriel Preisser as Lt. Gordon, and Troy Cook as Father Palmer, to name a few, will deliver a touching story when enemies become close as brothers as they burry their mortally wounded soldiers and gather to share Christmas.

Eric Simonson, who won an Oscar and was nominated for Tony Awards, directs the new production Silent Night filled with moving lyrics, emotional melodies and drama. Conductor of Silent Night is Michael Christie.
