Bruce Hornsby Duo Come to Jazz at Lincoln Center's Rose Theater September 26, Tickets Include 2-Disc Set 'Solo Concerts'

A musical tradition in and of himself, Bruce Hornsby--who just released a live 2-disc set entitled Solo Concerts--will come to Jazz at Lincoln Center's Rose Theater on Friday, September 26 for a duo performance with percussionist Sonny Emory.

Hornsby, of course, is a multi-faceted entertainer: a singer, bandleader and pianist with a distinct sound, though he has always considered himself a songwriter at heart. With his major radio hit "The Way It Is," Hornsby was catapulted to a mainstream success that he continued with his longtime band, The Noisemakers.

Given his career that spans some three decades, Hornsby will share his musical expertise with an intimate concert at JALC.

And as an added gift to all who attend, a copy of Solo Concerts will be included with the price of a ticket.

Tickets begin at a mere $61, so, really, where could you possibly go wrong?

"I think I've found a middle ground. I think it's very easy be straight down the middle, to write and play the very straight, simple music," says Hornsby about his JALC gig.

He continued: "I think it's also easy to be completely out there, very obtuse and obscure, saying, oh, they don't understand. For me, the difficult thing is to find a middle ground where you're reaching and broadening your language but still connecting with someone perhaps used to hearing--for an entire lifetime--only those seven white notes and those simple chords."

Precisely, indeed, Mr. Hornsby.

So, mark down September 26 on your calendar of choice and keep up date with all of Jazz at Lincoln Center's events over on their website.
