The newly opened luxury hotel Park Hyatt New York’s indoor pool could be your next favorite listening station. Opened last month, the indoor swimming pool’s underwater speakers play a classical music soundtrack curated by the staff at neighboring Carnegie Hall.
Six underwater speakers and two on the deck play the likes of Schubert and Debussy to the 65-foot-long lap pool’s patrons. The sounds are not a disturbance but a welcomes treat on the 25th floor of the 210-room hotel.
The pool is lined with a three-story wall of windows, giving way to sights of Carnegie Hall. Naturally, the rooms start at $795 a night.
The music system is part of a marketing partnership with Carnegie Hall and Park Hyatt. The exchange is simple: Carnegie is featured on Park Hyatt’s website and promo materials, while in turn concert subscribers are offered discounts at the hotel’s restaurant and bar.
The marketing partnership comes as no surprise as Park Hyatt is the sponsor of the Ensemble ACJW, Carnegie's post-graduate training ensemble.
