Sad news Divergent fans, franchise stars Shailene Woodley and Theo James aren't dating and never have been. Before Tris and Four could even think about taking their romance off-set, the Underworld action star would have to first split with his longtime girlfriend Ruth Kearney. In a recent Insurgent interview, Ansel Elgort's Fault of Our Stars love interest admitted that she hadn't had a proper boyfriend in five years--though Shai may have hooked up with a costar or two after shooting wrapped.
If you ask Shailene Woodley about all the rumors surrounding her supposedly dating all her movie boyfriends, like Theo James, she'll probably just deny everything.
In a recent interview with Teen Vogue, Woodley claimed that not only had she not had a boyfriend in years, Shainever even got it on with any of her on-screen beaus while they were working:
"I haven't had time to think about a relationship! I literally have not had a boyfriend in almost five years. I've never even hooked up with anybody I've worked on a movie with."
But when pressed a little bit further by the publication about whether or not she might have gotten more the friendly with some of them after the finished the work, Woodley admitted that her record there wasn't quite as spotless:
"Well, that might have happened on something...."
Regardless of them dating outside of work or not, Shailene does have to admit that she really likes to admire Theo's moves as an actor (via Fashion & Style):
"I think silence in films is almost more powerful that dialogue. Theo's reactions are amazing.
"His ability of listening is incredible and so the mutual communication that we have between our eyes I think adds a lot to Tris and Four.
"I love the Tris and Four dynamic...there's obviously mutual attraction."
Sounds like Ruth Kearney may want to start radomly dropping by that set every once in a while.
