Director/Writer David Donnelly to Release 'Maestro' Classical Music Documentary Featuring Paavo Järvi, Lang Lang, Joshua Bell and Hilary Hahn

Director/writer David Donnelly is set to release Maestro, a documentary on the world of classical music conductors during a time of decline.

The Endeavor Pictures produced film follows Grammy award-winning conductor Paavo Järvi, pianist Lang Lang, violinists Joshua Bell and Hilary Hahn and many others over the course of two years as they perform. The film also stars Pekka Kuusisto.

Donnelly created a Kickstarter to raise funds towards licensing and purchasing of music and a final surround mix and color correction. The project will be funded $78,388 is pledged by Monday October 20 at precisely 7:22 p.m. Prizes include a private screening of Maestro and the chance to meet Donnelly or a limited collectors edition two disc DVD.

Donnelly lived out of a suitcase when he was first presented the opportunity to create the film. He wanted to make sure he could respectively follow Jarvi. The film took Donnelly three years including a permissions process and various red tape hindrances.

The footage of the three-year process captures the pressures of self-expression, the rush of performance and the power of a universal language. Maestro is a study of contemporary classical music at large.
