ABC ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 11 Cast Spoilers: Ellen Pompeo Gets New Mother in TV Show? [VIDEO UPDATE]

Word has it that Grey's Anatomy is in for quite the cast shakeup in Season 11--though probably not on par with the departure of Sandra Oh during last year's finale. According to the latest gossip news updates, Ellen Pompeo is set to be the center of activity on the TV show this go around. Apparently, in addition to getting a new half-sister and sister-in-law, Meredith, will also be getting a new mother--in a way. Actress Sarah Paulson, who played a young Ellis Grey in Season 6, is said to have been replaced with Army Wives, stunner Sally Pressman. There are also rumors that all the major established couples could split in Grey's eleventh years as well. Though, who would really be surprised is Callie and Arizona wound up cheating with Alex Kerev and his girlfriend Jo?

By all accounts showrunner and television genius Shonda Rimes has dubbed Season 11 of Grey's Anatomy, the "Year of Meredith"--and with good reason.

According to E! News, the storylines both past and present will focus on Meredith, her mother, Ellis, and the personal relationship's in their lives.

Unfortunately, for fans of series continuity, the flashback Ellis will be played by an entirely different blond bombshell:

"[Grey's] has recast the role of young Ellis Grey for tonight's premiere.

"The role, previously played by American Horror Story's Sarah Paulson in flashbacks in season six, will now be played by Army Wives star Sally Pressman."

Actress, Camilla Luddington, who has plays Alex's girlfriend Jo, explained to TV Line, just how Merideth's through-line seems to take center stage even in the side stories:

"Well, Meredith is leaning on Alex as her new 'person,' because Cristina's gone and he is the last remaining original intern.

"And--because I was trying to think back about this--I think Jo's never actually witnessed that relationship before and the depth of it and how, with all of that gang, there were kind of no boundaries."

Justin Chambers, the actor who has played Alex for more than a decade, better be careful...getting to close to Meredith usually means a sure fired exit from the show--unless your last name happy to be McDreamy.
