Bandaloop Dance Troupe Gives Vertical Aerial Dance Performance on the Side of the City Hall Building as Part of Art + Soul Festival

Vertical aerial dance is the latest trend brewing up in California. Earlier this month as part of the Art + Soul Festival, dancers Amelia Rudolph and Roel Seeber from Bandaloop filmed themselves on a GoPro dancing vertically on the side of Oakland’s 18-story city hall.

The dance is regularly practiced at Bandaloop and even has a public friendly workshop.

“Dance in the air, on the walls, and on the ground with core company members,” the registrar reads.

Entitled “Waltz on the Walls of City Hall” the video captures scenes of Seeber and Rudolph galloping and spinning in the air as the dancers lightly tap their toes on the walls of the City Hall. Their grace and bravery falls just short of their sheer talent.

You, too, can learn how to dance sky high on the side of the building with a wide array of workshops at Bandaloop. The workshops promise to cover technique, safety, training methods, choreography, improvisation and play. All gear necessary will be supplied including a harness.

The instructors are all seasoned teachers and core Bandaloop company members. When taking a workshop it is recommended to register for the “All Levels” workshop for a thorough safety and equipment orientation.

Below, behold the beauty that is side-of-building dancing captured appropriately by a GoPro.
