Dumped Caroline Wozniacki Post Breakup with Ex-Fiancée Rory McIlroy: Sexy Danish Tennis Pro Winning Big Money, Forgets Million Dollar Check

Caroline Wozniacki seemed to struggle after being unceremoniously dumped by her fiancée Rory McIlroy. But now she's back and better than ever. The sexy Danish tennis pro recently placed second at the U.S. Open. But she's so unconcerned about money that she forgot to grab her $1.45 million check, as well as a $500,000 bonus. That's a lot of dollars to leave behind. But Caroline is feeling so great post-breakup with her ex, she is just having fun with winning big money and being back on top.

There is a great tandem of articles focusing on Wozniacki's finances, which paint an interesting portrait of the young Dane as care-free and perhaps a little too unconcerned about her brand.

The USA Today article mostly sticks to the surface: Caroline absent-mindedly left the U.S. Open without her prize money, etc. (via USA Today):

"That U.S. Open run would also pay handsomely. Finishing second at the U.S. Open brings a $1.45 million runner-up check. Except in order to get that check you actually have to remember to take it, which Wozniacki had not."

However, a profile in the Wall Street Journal got a little judge-y about her apparent apathy toward her career.

Wozniacki acquits herself nicely, though. She has a sharp business mind, according to her father, but Woz ultimately thinks about tennis in terms of the game, not necessarily the Game (via Wall Street Journal):

"I never think about my brand. I want to do well for myself and my sponsors...but I feel no pressure, because I don't play for the money."

It may be hard for a financial publication to grasp, but that attitude actually seems quite healthy. Of course Woz isn't averse to making money, but her love of sport and competition is her main thrust. And that's not a bad thing.
