Marvin Hamlisch's Widow, Terre Blair, Files Medical Malpractice Lawsuit Over Composer's Death

Marvin Hamlisch planned on leaving Terre Blair his Oscars even if she divorced him, that's just the kind of man he was. Blair now is returning the favor and having her late husband's back as she files a lawsuit for medical malpractice on the time of his death.

A much-needed kidney transplant back in 2012 may have been the smoking gun in this case, but according to the filed complaint, his physician, Dr. David Cohen, had misdiagnosed the problem early on, allowing Hamlisch to travel with symptoms of breathlessness, weakness, anxiety, chills, nausea, exhaustion and low blood pressure.

Hamlisch had stopped in to see Dr. Cohen on July 30 and was immediately discharged, where he was told it was safe to fly to Los Angeles to score the HBO film Behind the Candelabra. Hamlisch collapsed on arrival in L.A. and slipped into a coma.

He died five days later.

He left behind a musical legacy and, sadly, it seems like measures could have been taken to prevent his untimely departure. Terre Blair, his widow, hopes to find justice and compensation for what she feels is "malpractice."

I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Here is one of the last things he ever did.
