L.A. Dance Project To Perform Music by Bryce Dessner, David Lang and Gavin Bryars at the Brooklyn Academy of Music for Next Wave Festival

The L.A. Dance Project will perform to music by Bryce Dessner, David Lang and Gavin Bryars next week at the Brooklyn Academy of Music as part of the 2014 Next Wave Festival.

Choreography by Benjamin Millepied, Justin Peck, and William Forsythe, the evening will feature a performance of three prominent stage pieces: Reflections from 2013 with a visual concept by Barbara Kruger, Murder Ballades from 2013 with a visual concept by Sterling Ruby and 1993’s Quintett.

Millepied’s Reflections is a series of pas de deux and group dances set against bold text that reads, “Stay,” “Go,” and “Thinking of You Thinking of Me.” Where as Justin Peck’s Murder Ballades is a work on Jerome Robbins with a visual concept by artist Sterling Ruby and the music of Bryce Dessner as performed by eighth blackbird.

Lastly, William Forsythe’s Quintett is a more elegant piece set for five dancers. The piece serves a love letter to his late wife.

The dance collective was founded two years ago by Paris Opera Ballet director and former New York City Ballet principal Benjamin Millepied and composer Nico Muhly. The founding producer is Charles Fabius.

The performance will run from October 16 to 18 at BAM’s Peter Jay Sharp building. Tickets start at $20 and you can purchase them here.
