Total Divas star Natalie Neidhart is juggling reality show drama, real-life marital turmoil and now, the awkwardness of reliving that pain on WWE programming. Amidst rumors of a divorce from her husband Tyson Kidd, Neidhart is currently turning real-life marriage problems into a wrestling storyline as her character Natalya is going through the same issues on NXT and WWE.
For fans of E! Network's reality show Total Divas, the story behind Natalie Neidhart's ostensibly failing marriage is becoming increasingly difficult to navigate. Because of the scripted nature of professional wrestling, it can be hard to separate fact from fiction sometimes.
Nattie has been seen on Total Divas (a reality show) having trouble with her husband T.J. (Tyson Kidd). Their relationship has been portrayed as turbulent at best on the program. Recent episodes have even shown them contemplating divorce.
How uncomfortable must it be for her to relive that pain through a scripted storyline on WWE programming?
Meta-fiction and the breaking of the fourth wall is always intriguing, but professional wrestling in the Internet age is as mind-boggling as ever. Incorporating real-life events into the fictional landscape is nothing new, but now there's a reality show hovering somewhere between the two (with its own complicated relationship with "truth") which can further confuse matter because of the time lapse between shooting Divas and live WWE programming.
If Nattie and T.J. do end up getting divorced, will they continue to work together as a bickering couple on camera for Raw and Main Event? Or will the realness be too much for them to bear?
