[WATCH] Lawrence and Leigh's Andrew Kalleen Unlawfully Arrested and Assaulted by NYPD for Busking on Subway, Sings Pink Floyd, Neil Young

Lawrence and Leigh musician Andrew Kalleen was wrongfully arrested last Saturday for busking in the subway. Uploaded to YouTube by a bystander, video footage shows Kalleen being assaulted and arrested by an NYPD officer moments after reading aloud the law that Kalleen didn't in fact break.

The “crime” took place at the Lorimer Street/MetropolitanAvenue station around 1:30 a.m. on Friday. The officer repeatedly asked Kalleen to stop playing, to which he refused. Kalleen reminded the officer that he wasn’t acting unlawfully and the officer proceeded to read the law out loud, however ignoring the language.

The video progresses with chants against the police, Kalleen singing Pink Floyd and his eventual arrest.

“That song I start singing at the end, "Ohio" by Neil Young, is about the Kent State shootings. Maybe you know. That was 45 years ago now. There was a lot of momentum back then. I know this is nothing compared to that, but it is still an absolutely absurd occurrence. I want to inspire momentum,” Kalleen said to The Free Thought Project.
