Retired CM Punk: Best in the World Merchandise Removed From 2K15 Video Game? Chris Jericho Says Former Superstar Cut Wrestling Friends Out after He Quit WWE

It appears that former WWE Superstar CM Punk's ring entrance in the WWE 2K15 video game has been altered slightly. According to Wrestle Zone, the Best in the World's hoodie is blank and CM Punk signs were removed from the entrance. Likely the removal of merchandise has to do with the ongoing dispute between Punk and the WWE since his unceremonious departure. Speaking of which, the retired wrestler has cut ties with his friends in the industry since he quit, so says Chris Jericho.

Chris Jericho, whose third book Best in the World (At What I Have No Idea) just hit the shelves, says that recently retired wrestler CM Punk has severed ties with his friends in the business, as well as the company.

Punk's stance seems to be one of total non-compliance (via Inquisitr):

"The latest WWE news going around the Chicago block says that the relationship between the WWE and CM Punk has only become worse with time. Although it was believed CM Punk, Vince McMahon, and Triple were attempting to hash out a deal when the WWE 2K15 debacle occurred, apparently nothing came of it, and perhaps the situation has only grown worse."

The debacle to which the article refers has to do with legal issues concerning licensing, likeness, royalties and what-not which have left the two parties at an impasse.

Apparently the solution was to remove certain images from CM Punk's ring entrance, like signs and logos which relate to Punk, though his character still exists in the game (via Wrestle Zone).

Since Punk walked out on WWE in January, he has done everything in his power to avoid anything having to do with wrestling.

What effect, if any, will that have on any potential return down the line? Well, while Vince McMahon is reportedly a man who likes to hold a grudge, his daughter Stephanie has publicly stated that she wouldn't rule out the possibility of doing business with Punk again.
