Palo Alto Composer Devonte Hynes Spins at 'Performa Paradisio: A Tribute to the Renaissance' Featuring 'Fecunditas' by Jennifer Rubell, Raphaella Condo, Empress of Performance

Palo Alto composer Devonte Hynes will prance his titillating paws on the 1s and 2s at the Performa Paradisio: A Tribute to the Renaissance party. The evening, co-hosted by W Magazine's editor-in-chief Stefano Tonchi and artist Francesco Vezzoli, the evening will feature Fecunditas, a food performance by Jennifer Rubell.

The performance lands in line with Performa’s 10th anniversary. To celebrate, they are throwing a fall season long fête in tribute to the Renaissance. Specifically, the evening will honor Performa’s “Renaissance women” including Maria Baibakova, Melva Bucksbaum, Toby Devan Lewis, Wendy Fisher, Shelley Fox Aarons, Joan Jonas, Pamela Joyner, Maja Hoffmann, Wangechi Mutu, Shirin Neshat, Yvonne Rainer, Cindy Sherman and Laurie Simmons.

Performa founder RoseLee Goldberg feels the evening’s event is a way to “bring history to life in extraordinarily direct, experiential and innovative ways.” Naturally, proceeds from the gala find the Performa Commissions for next year’s Performa 15 biennial.

All attendees are instructed to be there at 9pm sharp for Sweet Distruction, the “dessert finale” of Fecunditas. Included on the bill as well are Raphaelle Condo, a debut performance presented by Stacy Engman and new songs by the Brooklyn electro-pop collective Empress Of.

The event takes place on Tuesday, November 4 from 6pm to midnight at the fabulous Weylin B. Seymour’s, formerly Williamsburgh Savings Bank. Tickets start at $1,500 and includes cocktails, admittance to Jennifer Rubell’s performance, dessert, and a dance party with — wait for it — reserved seating. This particular ticket starts at 6 p.m.

However, the 9 p.m., or Party Ticket will get you dessert, cocktails, dance party, performances by Raphaella Condo, Empress of Performance, and music by Devonté Hynes all for $150.

If you need to purchase tickets and tables for guests of eight to 10 or more, and or if you just need a bit more information, contact MF Productions at (212) 243-7300 or email Alisha Litman at alisha@mfproductions.com.
