'Glee' Star Matthew Morrison Hints at Return to Broadway in 2015

After Glee finishes taping its final season in Los Angeles, Tony-nominated star Matthew Morrison and his new wife Renee Puente are planning to move to New York, E! Online reports. Broadway is beckoning.

Morrison, who received a Tony Award nomination in 2005 for The Light In The Piazza, starred earlier this year in an industry-only workshop of the musical Finding Neverland, fueling speculation that he'll be in the cast when that musical opens on Broadway in March 2015. He has also appeared in Hairspray, Footloose, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and most recently South Pacific, but it's been four years since he hoofed it on the Great White Way.

"Something is in the works," Morrison said. "We're working on something. It's a brand-new show. Hopefully, it all works out. I'm looking forward to getting back on stage. Those are my roots. My heart is on the stage."

Finding Neverland is indeed a "brand-new show," at least from the standpoint of Broadway. Depicting J.M. Barrie's struggles with playwriting and marriage and his relationship with the family that inspired him to write Peter Pan, the show has been reworked and tried out, including at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, MA this past spring, pushed hard by award-winning film producer and Broadway neophyte Harvey Weinstein.

A final clue that Glee's "Mr. Schue" will be high-stepping onto the Broadway stage this coming year: although Morrison and Puente just got married, they're not taking a honeymoon until 2016.
