Violist Nadia Sirota To Release ‘Baroque’ March 26

Critically acclaimed violist Nadia Sirota will release her new album titled Baroque. Baroque will drop March 26, on Bedroom Community / New Amsterdam.

Sirota's debut record First Things First was named by The New York Times one of the top albums of 2009.

Baroque features music by Daníel Bjarnason, Paul Corley, Missy Mazzoli, Nico Muhly and Shara Worden who wrote the pieces on the album just for Sirota, who fused composers' creative voice with her own.

The record opens with "In Teaching Others We Teach Ourselves" by Judd Greenstein, featuring James McVinnie, a recent Westminster Abbey assistant organist.

"Tooth and Nail" by Mazzoli, is followed by Muhly's "Étude 3″, and Corley's "Tristan Da Cunha."

The album closes with Bjarnason's viola concerto titled "Sleep Variation," featuring Sirota performing eleven different viola lines in this 14 minutes piece.
