Composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir Releases Latest Album 'Aerial' November 11 via Deutsche Grammophon / Universal Music Classics

Icelandic composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir is set to release her latest album, Aerial, on November 11th via Deutsche Grammophon / Universal Music Classics Records. Aerial is composed of six new works with ensembles of varying sizes.

The record is the follow up to debut portrait album, 2011’s Rhízōma on Innova Records;  which featured three orchestral and chamber orchestra pieces and five movements from a solo percussed piano work.

The Ph.D toting Thorvaldsdottir typically creates large sonic structures with a wide variety of sustained sound materials.

Thorvaldsdottir’s ethereal works have placed her at Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival with the International Contemporary Ensemble, in the Composer Portraits Series at NYC's Miller Theatre and at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. To wit, she has received the prestigious Nordic Council Music Prize 2012 for her work, Dreaming.

Her award winning work has garnered her collaborations with BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Oslo Philharmonic, BIT20, Musiques Nouvelles, the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, Yarn/Wire, the CAPUT Ensemble and Either/Or Ensemble.
