Violinist Vanessa Mae aims to ski for Thailand during Olympics 2014

Well known violinist Vanessa Mae took a break from music in order to prepare herself for skiing at Winter Olympics 2014 in Sochi.

According to spokewoman for the International Ski Federation, Riikka Rakic, Mae has a license to compete for Thailand, however she needs a minimum of five stars in Federation Internationale de Sky and certain points in order to qualify for the Olympics 2014.

Mae, "It has been my dream to be a ski bum since I was 14. This is something I am determined to do."

Mae who was born to Chinese-Thai parents was born in Singapore, however grew up in England.

If Mae qualifies, she would be the second Thai athlete to compete at Winter Olympics.

What does Mae's father think about his daughter skiing?

Mae, "I wanted to compete for Thailand because there is a part of me which I have never celebrated - being Thai. My father, like most Thais, has never skied but he's really excited about me doing this as is the Thai Olympic Committee."
