Beckett Stana Katic Talks ‘Castle’ Contract Ending After Season 7: Could ABC Nathan Fillion Show Be Cancelled Before Season 8? [SPOILERS]
Now Castle and Beckett are married, fans are wondering how much longer Castle [the show] will last. The hit ABC series, starring Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic, is currently in its seventh season, and that means that the stars contracts are up. Could the wedding be the sign that the producers are hoping to wrap the series up? Recently, Katic opened up about the possibly of the show ending (not getting renewed /canceled) before Season 8.
Stana Katic recently sat down with TV Line where she opened up about the possibility of saying goodbye to her hit show, Castle, at the end of the season:
“Well, I think it really depends on…. I don’t think that a show should overstay its welcome….If the character is complete, if there is nowhere else to go creatively, then I think it’s better to stop when you’re on top, because I admire the way that they did that with The Wire, you know? Tell a great story and then go home and move onto something else. Don’t milk it ‘just because.’ So for me it’s about art over finance, and as long as we’re creating something that is compelling and that has somewhere to go, then we’re good to go. And when we find that we’re not, when we don’t have anywhere else to go, then it’s time for everyone to pack up and move onto the next thing. But I don’t know where it’s going to end.”
Whether or not the show ends this season, Katic is very happy to have been a part of it, as she went to add:
“I’m lucky that I got to play this character. I’m lucky that I got to experience this. So I’m happy with whatever happens in the end. I’m just happy that I got to be one of the cogs in the machine that created this show and was a part of its success in some small way. So that makes me happy, whatever happens.”
What do you think about Katic’s remarks? Should the show end after this season? Do you want it to be renewed again? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section at the bottom of the page.
