Marina Abramović, Igor Levit Performing Bach's 'Goldberg Variations' at Park Avenue Armory in December 2015

The young pianist Igor Levit and New York City-based performance artist Marina Abramović will collaborate on an avant-garde presentation of Bach's Goldberg Variations at Park Avenue Armory's Drill Hall in December 2015. As the Armory puts it, the work will reflect on music and will provide an interactive landscape for audience and performer.

Set to premiere Dec. 7-19, Drill Hall will offer its stage to the concept, which was announced Wednesday as part of the Armory's 2015 season. "Goldberg," per WQXR, will be Abramović's first foray into classical music.

A necessary staging for a different perspective on Bach, the performance artist is best known for her exhibitions at the Sean Kelly Gallery, which blindoflds visitors as they venture through the work.

To continue the 2015 season, the Armory will also offer up Laurie Anderson's Language of the Future series from Oct. 2-4 and will star Anderson in the Drill Hall.

The season begins March 25 and to kick off a most anticipated run, the opener will be a multimedia project collab between director Peter Sellars and choreography Reggie "Regg Roc" Gray.

An unprecedented schedule of conceptual art pieces and avant-garde collaborations, Drill Hall at the Park Avenue Armory will have much to live up to after Rattle recently passed through.

For now, we have the Marina Abramović below.
