Tonight, Fox’s Gracepoint is all new with the game changing eighth episode of the ten episode series. The Broadchurch remake stars Doctor Who’s David Tennant and Breaking Bad’s Anna Gunn. Recently, Fox announced that they are planning a remake of Luther with Thor and Avengers' actor Idris Elba serving as producer.
The official plot synopsis for tonight’s new episode of Gracepoint, reads:
“Trying to adapt to life without Danny, members of the Solano family head back to work and school, while police bring in Susan Wright for questioning after the local paper digs up some unsettling news about her.”
Tonight’s episode is number 8 out of 10. The original Broadchurch series only ran 8 episodes, so that means anything goes from here on. Gracepoint showrunner Dan Futterman (Capote), told reporters at the begining of the series(via Washington Post):
“The first order of business was don’t [mess] up what works [about Broadchurch], because it was fantastic. All of you probably saw Broadchurch. You are connoisseurs of good TV, and it was great TV. So we didn’t want to break what was working. But we also wanted to raise this show in a different country. We have 10 episodes as opposed to eight, and so we start to veer from the storyline. . . . [W]e introduced new characters, new potential suspects.”

Despite the lackluster critical response to the series, Fox on planning on importing their own remake of Luther. Original Luther star Idris Elba will not return as an actor, but will serve as producer for the new series.
