Can-Can coming back to Broadway in Spring 2014

Based on the Abe Burrows original, a bit revised Can-Can will make it back to Broadway in Spring of 2014.

According to an Equity casting call, the reading of Joel Fields and David Lee's revised book should take place in New York, NY, beginning of July. The exact dates are yet to be announced.

The musical is set in 1890's and tells the story about Paris' showgirls and a daring can-can dance in a club owned by La Mome Pistache. Pistache  faces ruin as a zealous judge Forestier battles against her and club. Things turn interesting when Forestier's unexpected love for her crosses his plans.

Can-Can was first presented on Broadway in 1953 and became a big hit.

In 1960 the musical became a movie featuring legendary Frank Sinatra, Shirley MacLaine, and Maurice Chevalier.
