Cyndi Lauper and Harvey Fierstein’s musical ‘Kinky Boots’ opened last night on Broadway

Last night, April 4, 2013, a new musical 'Kinky Boots' created by Grammy Award-winning icon Cyndi Lauper and four-time tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein, had its official opening night on Broadway at Al Hirschfeld Theatre.

'Kinky Boots' was choreographed by Jerry Mitchell a tony Award winner. The musical is inspired by a true story and is based on the film Kinky Boots. 

The musical tells the story about Charlie Price who inherited his father's shoe factory which faces bankruptcy. In search for the way to save the factory, Charlie finds his inspiration in Lola, an entertainer who is in need of fabulous stilettos. As they try to save the factory together, they discover they have more in common than they thought.

 

Cyndi Lauper who wrote score and lyrics for the 'Kinky Boots' will celebrate the 30th anniversary of her journey in music industry. Lauper will depart on 'Cyndi Lauper 30th Anniversary Tour' in June.
