Strange & Beautiful: John Lurie Takes Over VICE Radio to Discuss 'Finding Yourself in Over Your Head' at 9 P.M.

After finishing up a stint at the Cavin-Morris Gallery in October with his most recent exhibition, John Lurie: There Are Things You Don't Know About, the Lounge Lizard is taking to the radio airwaves. Thus, this Wednesday at 9 p.m., John Lurie will be taking questions and talking about finding yourself in over your head on VICE radio.

According to VICE's twitter, John Lurie is hosting another episode on the company's radio space. If you are in the know about Lurie, then you know it should be interesting.

John is a mainstay of the downtown jazz underground in New York City and is also known to don different hats -- everywhere from painter to television personality.

From his IFC/Bravo venture, Fishing with John, to various appearances and contributions to a then-unknown Jim Jarmusch, his reach extends quite far.

In October, Lurie honed his sights on paintings and the Strange & Beautiful gala honored the artist with a most resounding exhibition. Flea, from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Zorn, Deerhoof's Greg Saunier and more contributed to the residency and brought to light the genius of the musician's own work.

Also, in early 2006, John finished his explicit watercolor, Bear Surprise, which was memed in February 2008 when a Russian internet user, Roman Yatsenko, uploaded an edited version to Dirty.ru. The new version replaced "surprise" with "ПРЕВЕД."

The image became an instant hit and went viral, putting Lurie on the map -- literally.

Until next time, C-lites, catch John Lurie on VICE this Wednesday at 9 p.m.
