‘Peter Pan Live’ Ratings Fail To Reach ‘Sound of Music’ Levels: Darlings Kelli O'Hara, Taylor Louderman, Christian Borle, and Minnie Driver Charm Audiences

The ratings are in and Peter Pan Live brought NBC’s Thursday night to great heights. However, the live musical event fell short of last year’s Sound of Music Live broadcast. That didn’t stop the cast from charming audiences. In addition to Christopher Walken’s Captain Hook and Allison Williams’ Peter Pan, the Darling family, Kelli O’Hara, Taylor Louderman, Christian Borle (Who doubled as bare-armed Smee) Jake Lucas, John Allyn and Minnie Driver, won over viewers.

The preliminary ratings are in for Peter Pan Live! and it brought in a 9.13 million. That is way down from last year’s Sound of Music Live, which drew in an impressive 18.6 million.

Despite the drop, it was still a major win for the network.

Bob Greenblatt, NBC’s entertainment chairman, released a statement to the press about the ratings (via Deadline):

“We’re very pleased with the Peter Pan ratings and it was a great night for NBC. We won every hour, which hasn’t happened on Thursday with entertainment programming since a year ago. I’m proud to be part of a company that takes chances and creates big events, and that’s exactly what we’re going to continue to do.”

Greenblatt went on to add they never expected to reach the same ratings numbers as Sound of Music Live:

“We didn’t expect to reach the same rating as The Sound of Music since that was the first live movie event of its kind in over 50 years. But the high wire act of Peter Panwas a joy for everyone involved and I take my hat off to Allison Williams, Christopher Walken, the entire company, and our incredible directors and producers for three months of the hardest work I’ve ever seen. I love these live events and we’re already working on putting the next one together.”
