Make Music New York 2013 Announces 'Mass Appeal'

Be it Lost Locker Combo on Bedford Ave. in the rain, Xenakis in a rented rowboat on Central Park Lake, or Peregrine migrating through Fort Greene during the winter solstice, Make Music New York has become The Big Apple's brightest plein air festival---Gotham's very own Fête de la Musique.

And as the days get longer and the temperature finally warms up, once again, MMMNY has set its sites on you for Mass Appeal!

Whether joining a herd of flutes or counting yourself among 76-plus trombones, you need only show up with the right instrument, in the right place, at the right time.

The day, of course, has always been the same---the summer solistice on Friday, June 21, 2013.

According to Aaron Friedman, Founder & President of MMNY, Mass Appeal groups are currently in formation. To take the lead of your own massive group this year, and help recruit other participants, simply email amy@makemusicny.org.

The NYC Guitar School did last year, and as you can see, Adele is all the better for it.

You best hurry, though. The deadline to finalize your Make Music New York plans is April 29, just three weeks away...

Visit their registration site and sign up. And as you're deciding on your own MMNY 2013 itinerary, you can also:

  • Join them this Wednesday for the Friends of MMNY launch party
  • Sign up for a phone banking session and help MMNY grow and thrive

Friedman also says there are a handful of parks still available for your MMNY concert; email parks@makemusicny.org if you're interested in that aspect.

Mass Appeal is made possible in part with public funds from the Fund for Creative Communities, supported by New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.
