Depending on who you ask Mel B's American director husband, Stephan Belafonte, either put her in the hospital or abandoned her shortly after the Spice Girl was sent screaming in agony to the Emergency Room. According to the latest gossip news updates, virtually everyone is in agreement however that the X Factor judge's, marriage is on the rocks, as the pair having seemingly split. Word has it that Belafonte has been living in the house in Los Angeles, while Mel B has been building a brand new single life for herself in London.
When word went round last week that Mel B missed an X Factor taping because she was being rushed to the hospital, it didn't take long for people to suggest that it was her husband, Stephen Belafonte that put her there.
According to the Daily Mail, everyone from random fans on social media to the Spice Girl's owns mother, Andrea Brown, started spreading the word that Bellafonte was undoubtedly to blame.
A source told The Sun that Mel B seems to be holding a grudge after her visit to the hospital that is for sure (via Daily Mail):
"Mel hasn't spoken to Stephen once since her admission to hospital last week and as it stands she doesn't want to see him. He didn't come to the hospital at all.
"Things have been very rocky over the last few weeks...last week everything escalated and there were a number of big rows before Mel ended up in hospital."
While another top secret informant did confirm that Mel B and Stephen were in deed fighting all the time as of late, they assured Radar Online, that Belafonte was in no way physically responsible for the sudden deteirioration of his wife's health:
"Mel is currently in a London hotel with her daughters, Phoenix, 15, and Angel, 7.
"She has been told by her London doctor she can return to Los Angeles, but she has chosen not to.
"Instead, Mel has chosen to continue to hang out with a new group of friends that parties very, very hard.
"Leading up to Mel's abrupt hospitalization last week, she had been staying up all night, partying with these people."
Even though Belafonte has admitted to battering his ex-girlfriend in court, the insider goes on to claim that Stephen has learned from his mistakes and would never do anything like that now:
"They love hard and fight hard. However, those fights are only verbal, and Stephen has never laid a hand on Mel, and would never hit her."
It seems pretty odd that someone claiming to be your friend, would demand to know the ends and outs of your private hospital visit in order to not tell everyone they know that your husband is prone to spousal abuse...but such islove of a mother.
