The legendary jazz drumming heavyweight, Roy Haynes, will celebrate an honorable 90th birthday with a slew of shows at New York's most beloved downtown jazz venue The Blue Note from March 13-15.

According to Jam Bands, the drummer — who has been active and performing in the jazz world of NYC for 70 plus years — will appear at the club with several special guests to play alongside him and his birthday gala.

Each night will features two shows and a different special guest including bassist Christian Mcbride (March 13), trumpeter Roy Hargrove and tap dancer Savion Glover.

Also, Haynes' band will run consistent through each show, featuring Jaleel Shaw on saxophone, Martin Bejerano on piano and David Wong on bass.

And if you're familiar with the club, the sets will start promptly at 8:00 and 10:00 p.m. each night.

For those who don't know, Haynes is a big player in jazz scene, having shared the stage with the likes of Louis Armstrong, Charlie 'Yardbird' Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Sarash Vaughn, Miles Davis, Bud Powell, Ella Fitzgerald, Pat Metheny, Chick Corea and many more.

More recently, however, Haynes sat it in with all-time guitar gods the Allman Brothers, recorded with Charlie Watts and also shared performances with Page McConnell at the 2008 Jammys.
