The new music video for Sia’s "Elastic Heart" has caused quite the stir. The video featuring a cage fight/dance between the 28-year-old Shia Labeouf (Transformers, Even Stevens) and the 12-year-old Maddie Ziegler (Dance Moms), has “triggered” some viewers who interrupt it as being pedophelic. Now Sia has apologized for to anyone offended or emotionally harmed by the video.
Sia clarified the “Elastic Heart” video via twitter, writing:
“I anticipated some 'pedophelia!!!' Cries for this video. All I can say is Maddie and Shia are two of the only actors I felt could play these two warring 'sia' self states.”
Sia went on to apologize to anyone who was “triggered” by the video, tweeting:
“I apologize to those who feel triggered by #ElasticHeart My intention was to create some emotional content, not to upset anybody.”
Sia also addressed the theory that Shia is supposed to represent her father, clarifying:
